Wisconsin Participates in National Agriculture Annual Meeting

MADISON, Wis. – The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) held its 2026 Annual Meeting in Portland, Maine on September 13 – 16, 2026. Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) Secretary Randy Romanski participated in numerous business meetings and policy discussions.
Romanski completed his term as the Midwestern Association of State Departments of Agriculture (MASDA) President while at the meeting. He represented the region in the NASDA Board Meeting on the first day.
“It was an honor to lead the Midwestern region as President," said Romanski. “I appreciated the opportunity to represent my counterparts in national discussions and bring Wisconsin's perspective in important conversations."
The Annual Meeting had six committee meetings to discuss current issues and facilitate collaboration. Topics included food systems, rural development, international trade, natural resources, plant health, and animal health.
Romanski served as Vice Chair of the Animal Agriculture Policy Committee meeting. The committee discussed the ongoing New World Screwworm response and had an update on cattle markets.
“Animal health remains one of the most important subjects I discuss with my colleagues at the annual meeting," shared Romanski. “We continue to work with federal, state, and industry partners to discuss our current efforts, leverage resources, and develop additional methods to safeguard the agriculture industry."
During the Annual Meeting, Food Export Association of the Midwest USA (Food Export Midwest), a non-profit organization facilitating trade between the region and worldwide importers, also met. Romanski began his service as President of Food Export Midwest and will lead these meetings during the term.
“Wisconsin is committed to growing its agricultural exports around the world, and I am proud to share our state's experience in the Food Export Midwest meetings," concluded Romanski. “We will continue to work to strengthen our international partnerships and identify new market opportunities for our food businesses.
